EDUCATION
The
OLBA is exclusively involved in maintaining responsible tavern
owners and we offer programs, such as TAM, to help keep taverns
aware of the legalities within the industry. TAM, the Techniques of
Alcohol Management server training program, is a comprehensive,
three-hour program designed to give servers the know-how of being
alcohol servers. The sessions provide detailed information about
state laws, as they relate to the alcohol beverage industry.
These classes are
not difficult and they are completely beneficial to tavern owners.
The sessions are only $25 per student for OLBA members and $60 for
non-OLBA members. The course is also available to take online
by following the "OLBA education" link on any page of this website.
The cost of the online course is $45 per student. For further information on how you can
protect your establishment by giving your servers this invaluable
information, please call the OLBA State Office at 1-800-678-5995 and
ask for the TAM coordinator.
The
Ohio Beverage Journal
This
premier trade magazine of the licensed beverage industry is
yours free each month with a membership to the OLBA. With ABL reports, legal updates, wholesaler price listings, and updated
information on current events within the industry, the Ohio Beverage
Journal is committed to helping you succeed in the beverage
industry. Executive Director Phil Craig is dedicated to keeping the
members updated by writing each month about the pending legislative
issues and the latest trends within the industry.

Networking
Opportunities
Local County
Unit Meetings
Included in your
membership to the OLBA is a membership in your local county unit's
association. County units promote the license beverage industry at
the local level. As a member of your county unit, you will have the
opportunity to attend the county meetings and meet others from your
area who work in the tavern industry.
Quarterly Board
Meetings
OLBA members are
also invited to attend quarterly state meetings held in various
cities across the state. At quarterly state meetings, the OLBA hosts
important state leaders as keynote speakers and often welcomes state
representatives who come to address the members at local board
meetings. Also, by attending the quarterly board meetings, you have
the opportunity to meet other permit holders from across the state
to discuss issues which affect the future of the association.
See the Calendar for a list of our upcoming meeting dates and
locations.
Buckeye Bar Expo
As part of our
commitment to the licensed beverage industry, the OLBA
sponsors the annual Buckeye Bar Expo. This trade show
serves as an important tool to educate members on various
technological advancements benefiting the hospitality industry. The
shows also features the newest products for the Holiday Season,
bartending demos by flair bartenders, musical performances, and
great networking opportunities for you and your staff. See the
Buckeye Bar Expo section for more information.
ABL Annual
Convention
Networking
opportunities are also available at the national level when the
American Beverage Licensees holds its annual meeting in
Las Vegas. In conjunction with the ABL convention are various trade
shows and other industry conventions. This convention gives you the
opportunity to meet national leaders in the industry.
